The day is coming when a single carrot, freshly observed, will set off a revolution. -Paul Cezanne

This looks like great weekend fun and it features our very own Susan Perko!!!!
On a similar note, here is my lunch from last week:

Its only interesting because everything on that plate (eggs included) grew in our back yard.  I think there may be sutra dedicated to eating local organic food.  Speaking of which, I have a new favorite book:  "The Edible Schoolyard".
Its about Alice Waters' transformative school garden project in Berkley, Ca.  I've just linked the website, because I can not find the book online.  Ok, I take that back, you can get a copy here.
I am so inspired by her work.  Its just incredible how much of a connection was forged with in the children to each other, the environment, and themselves by something so simple as a garden.  Digasana - another one of my favorite poses.

Finally, here is a gratuitous shot of an office shoulder stand set up.  I have been meaning to post this as an example for us all to practice safely, and with good alignment anywhere.  This elegant display is at Tom's office, and it has become one of my favorite yoga photos (of course much like I have about a hundred favorite yoga poses, the favorite photos list is long).

Bringing Sexy Back...

OK, I am willing to admit that I have a powerful east coast bias, but
California just loves to prove me right every time I head to the west coast. First of all, I have never visited CA with out being incredibly ill.
This time it has been a stomach flu - I'll spare you the details. Then there is the "Eco friendly" left coaster who thanked me for doing my part to save the planet when I said no thanks to a printed receipt.  Never mind that I had just ordered a cup of coffee that originated from beans grown thousands of miles away, was roasted somewhere along the way, then poured into a disposable cup, with a little disposable jacket. I don't even want to think about how far my scone traveled.
To be fair, it's gorgeous. Anything could grow here, and I am having some serious garden envy. The climate is just amazing, and the pacific has such a dramatic flair that I don't think I could ever be tired of staring at it. I also got to take one of my favorite Ashtanga classes of all time this morning.

It was a Mysore class taught by Nikki Doane, Eddie Modestini (Nobel's teachers), David Swenson, and Richard Freeman.  It was not one of my easiest or most spectacular practices, and I didn't have any epiphanies. It was just a sweet, simple, where I needed to be kind of practice. I felt safe, since no one was pushing me around, and all of the teachers were beyond wonderful. However, about half way through club music started blasting in from the next room. No, it did not just blast, it throbbed. The floor was vibrating! Then David in his sweetest yogi voice said "sometimes when you are deep in your practice and about to reach samadhi (bliss), one begins to hear rap music." No lie. So as the yoga class next door was bringing sexy back (literally), we were giggling our way through poses.

California just totally sucks.

Afterthoughts:  I just wanted to be clear that this was not a judgment on the specific genre of music.  I actually would have preferred rap and I am currently loving the White Stripes (also considered loud and obnoxious) in my own practice.  I also typed this in from my phone since upon arriving in CA my laptop crashed as well.  I love NYC!!!!
